Group Blog-Critical Evaluation

The basic idea behind the grumpy cunts blog was to highlight the issues, which annoy each of the writers in a humorous way. We had the freedom to choose any topic to write about we wanted. The only house rules we had to abide by were a set word limit and to include at least one image or a video. Also we were set specific times on which we had to post my time were two until four.

Generally writing on the blog was an easy experience as each subject was personal and generally flowed quite consistently.
The blog as a whole worked very well as each post was original and covered a completely different subject. The funny aspect of each post made it an enjoyable experience to read the blog. The aesthetics of the blog were greatly helped by the banner, which was created by a group member. I particularly liked the simple nature of the layout. The colours were simple and were easy on the eye, making it easy to read each post.

Writing each post was fairly straightforward even though I did struggle with one post. The initial idea I felt was a good one but I found it hard to lengthen it out to meet the word limit. I feel my style of writing suits blogs and online as it quite loose and free. I also like the freedom of writing online as you can include humorous aspect, maybe you couldn’t include in print. Plus the freedom to swear is always welcomed I feel four out of five post was of a decent standard, the last one let me down slightly but everyone can’t be perfect.

The group worked smoothly with everyone meeting the deadlines, which were set, apart from Liz who did miss two days but did manage to meet the rest of them. We may have benefited from setting broad topics from which we could write about, as a few members wrote about transport.
